Sorry- figured since it was in the news I didn't have to explain the whole thing before stirring up the pot.

Obama is closing Gitmo and moving the detainees to the Thompson Correctional Institute in Thompson, IL which is 150 miles west of Chicago.

3K jobs going to the area- good for them but smells of paying back a favor in his home state to me. The Thompson facility has never fully opened due to budget problems. I bet we paid full price for it.
