After the long wait and all the hype about the new Camaro I finally got to give one the once over. I was and am VERY disappointed. Without going into to many details and ranting on about it Cheap very Cheap and I don't meen $$$$$$$ 29,900 for a V/6? No thanks. The car felt like it was trying very hard to be something it will never be.
I also have been waiting to see the Ponitac Solctice Coupe, while not disapointed with what it looks like (I love it) But 33k for a 4cyl go cart with a roof? I will wait for a year when they are selling for 1/2 price like the rest of there fleet.
I guess they still haven't learned a thing after all the years of getting beaten down by the other guys.
Now I have to wonder how long it will be before the others start makeing a better apple pie:(

Funny you should say this...my good friend (and insurance agent!) currently has two Mustang Cobras, but he was so smitten by the looks of the new Camaro, he ordered one last year. He was so excited to see it, he went to the Chicago Auto Show to actually sit in one before his came....and he came away with the EXACT same opinion as you. Cheap, cheezy interior totally turned him off..especially considering the $$ the were asking. He was thinking about not taking delivery and going for a new GT500 instead.

Seems a shame that they'd drop the ball that badly in the face of resurgent Mustang and Challenger sales. They HAVE the ability...the C6 Corvette is MORE than enough proof of that...so WTF?

I was listening to Charlie Rose last night. GM has or will soon have 40k employees while a million are on pension and receiving health benefits.

I like the new Camero including the interior I guess its all a matter of opinion. No car manufacturer will make a car that appeals to everyone! I mean the are idiots that buy those Honda fits, Toyota Yaris's etc!

i hate to even show someone a yaris....there is not much to say when doing a demo on it....

I saw one last night on the way home from OC. Little dealer in the middle of nowhere had a silver one sitting in the grass out front. From the road it looked very cool.

I think that they really missed the mark. They just look ''Goofy" to me.

I think they look great.

I'm not sure what will happen with GM though. Now that they have closed their high-performance think tank group they may never bring out anything way cool. I just love the SS Trailblazer and the Caddy performer. And the new ZR1 is crazy neat.

I can just see a bunch of Obamaskates that the Yaris and Fits will be way better than.

Ford is the big winner in this thing. Barry isn't going to let GM build anthing that anyone would want and Fiat is going to build Fiat based Chryslers. If I had the dough, I'd buy one of these closed shopping malls and stuff it full of late moder, low-mileage pickups and SUV's. They're going to be worth a small fortune in a few years.

Me, I can live with an extended-cab F650 pickup as my daily driver. ;)

There are several investors who are recommending dumping Ford by year end unless they get the same concessions from the unions, same preferred vehicle loan status from GMAC, and the same preferential treatment on government future loans interest rates that GM and Fiat are going to get.

They feel the government will make sure government-motors is the most profitable of all no matter what it does to others. Some are even predicting Ford will have to file 11 down the road because of the advantages GM and Fiat will have.

I was wondering this morning where Ford will be situated after this all shakes out. Sure they got concessions and they re-financed everything, but it looks they will be sitting on a whole new playing field soon.

Hot Rod magazine's latest spread on the new Camaro didn't help sell me. I had always been a GM guy growing up, specifically Pontiac, but I have to look at Mustangs and the Challenger in a better light than the Camaro right now. I think Ford has sold millions of Stangs while GM dragged things out, I think looks wise the Challenger is better, and would have a real hard time buying anything GM now. Wife's 2000 Grand Prix GT wasn't a bad car by any stretch, but I have had better luck with my used high mileage "beater" Taurus'. I hate to see GM go, but I sure can see why it is happening...oh yeh that's right my 2001 HD2500 got bought back as a lemon. First and last GM I bought brand new.

I have always been a Chevy/GM guy. Owned many going back to '65 LeMans, '67 Camaro RS, '69 Corvette, '01 Camaro Z28 LS2, '03 Blazer 4x4 ZR2. The last couple I bought in '03/'04 were cheap pieces of junk. Very poor quality, lots of plastic. Many interior parts just broke or fell off. I have maintained the engine and drive train meticulously and they seem to be lasting OK, on the last one I own, an '03 Blazer 4x4 ZR2. I have owned several Fords, Jeeps, and Dodge products since then and all have been much higher in quality and interior comfort. But with that said I will never buy a GM product as long as it is owned by the government and the unions. How can you just tell the common stock holders to go F yourself.

The one you rode in should be cheap since i am sure they haven paid the suppliers for the parts that built it (they are out 4 to 6 months)

There real cost is around 30 bucks (Gas in the tank)

NEGOTIATE NEGOTIATE NEGOTIATE

I still like the over all look of them its just when you look a bit deeper, Thats the big disapointment. And I can't get past the paint it was just awful the gas filler door is a big round thing in the middle of the rear 1/4 almost a compelete different color.
I just can't justifie the cost of the SS for what you get in the end.
I'm just going to back to my roots and build me a streetrod/custom.

I'm with you . I will never own (I hope) a fiat. And I won't buy another GM. I currently have a Vette, 2500HD, and Trailblazer. My next will most likely be a Ford HD.
