Fundraiser Sues Saying New York's Binghamton University Used Her as Sexual 'Plaything'

Okay so they have title nine and all of them want equal opportunity throughout the sports world, then when someone comes on to them BAM, lawsuit. Here is the deal ladies, men are pigs, the world won't protect you, do it yourself, tell him NO and mean it, then shut the hell up and move on. Wonder what she would do when some WNBA or LPGA lesbo came on to her?

In all fairness to the girl, I've seen some "after hour" things go on in corporate america that are downright wrong...

On the flip side, I was at two conferences this week. They were focused around doing business with the government.... First off, with a $30B operating budget the Port Authority allot's 17% of their budget to Minority and Women owned businesses and NOTHING for small business. NYC DoITT is slightly higher and again nothing for small business....

If you ask me it makes sense to put on a skirt and high heals sometimes..... Nothing against the women, it's just frustrating when you're trying to compete in a tight market and hall passes are being given out...

John is there something you need to tell us? :sifone:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,531203,00.html?test=latestnews

I can tell you that she was a Major Gifts Officer. That's a hundred grand plus a year for schmoozing with people, some who are drinking. Some who say stupid stuff. It can be a great gig, if you can raise money. Her goal was probably 5 to 10 million per year, she was probably one of 30 Major Gift Officers on staff.
My guess... she hated her boss and maybe vice versa. This is just a way of getting paid on the way out.

The "tell" would be whether or not she has hit her fundraising goals. For some reason, major gift officers who actually raise money never sue anybody. They grow thick skin and they move up to Foundation President.

Turnover is high, there are many open jobs. Now there is one more.

Plus... she needs the 11 million because nobody in fundraising will ever hire her as a top level officer again.

Coincidentally... I am attended a national conference on Major Gifts in two weeks. Ought to be some interesting folks there. :)

Come on John, you can ne honest with us, the nuns make you dance for them once in a while right? :D

Unfortunately there are plenty of "pigs" who don't know what NO means Ted!

Thank you Frank! As a woman who works in the construction industry, you would be shocked and awed at what men say and do to women. I'm not your average take and shut up type person. I like to have fun along with everyone, but there are men who do not know when to stop. Personally, I could never see myself filing a harrassment suit as I'd kick any guy in the nuts before I'd let him get the best of me.

Just because God gave me or any other woman tits is not a reason for any man to continue being a pig when told no.

Alright, I'll grant you that, but in today's climate I think anyone with any kind of position or stature (these guys are heavy hitters) is not going to push the issue too far. She was not hanging in an outlaw biker bar. And is it harrassment when the person has no actual power over you? I realize they might be able to withold their cash, but they could not fire this woman. I too would be interested (if I was on the jury) in her actual production and whether she was hitting her goals or whether she was already on the chopping block when this suit was filed.

It's unfortunate and it happens... I worked with this guy for a year or so, total scum bag... The way he talked to women etc was sickening... One time a candidate called me up to have a confidential conversation and when she told me what he said to her on the phone my jaw dropped to the ground...... I was so shocked that I asked her if she didn't mind me recording the conversation so I could send it to our CEO.

About a month later this same bozo was trying to help Dee get a job with T-Mobile and proceeded to show up at her friggin apartment on a Saturday afternoon after attending the local strip club to give what he called "interview advice". Good thing Dee's boyfriend was over at the time. When I found out what he did I so livid that when I came into work on Monday I went into his office, shut the door and told him that if he ever showed up at her place again I would have him "taken care of".... Meanwhile, I'm a buck 75 and he's about 250..... We fired him not to long after this...:USA:

We have one of our salesmen on the west coast that offends our male product managers when they travel with him! Said they've never seen anyone like him in their life and they way he salivates when he sees any woman.

As most of you know I'm pretty crass and insensitive... but I'm constantly blown away by the stupid/innapropriate things people do and say in the professional environment. Even if you don't believe in the policy, you HAVE to know that this kind of behavior will get your ass canned... Yet time and time again, I see people do it, with the expected results.

And yes, I'm aware that there's a flip side to the coin, that there are people who are falsely accused of this, but that seems like all the more reason to make SURE you're running your gig 100% above the board...

Sheeesh, this got pretty serious, I figured we'd all have a laugh about the sisters pinching big John on his bum!

I wonder what his name is, maybe he's the guy that worked for us...:willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

On the flip-side...I've seen the opposite... 2002 timeframe I needed to hire a recruiter... This girl, ex-stripper was referred to us... So I interviewed her and it seemed like she was eager to learn and willing to put in the time and effort... The CFO asks me if I think I can work with her and her previous occupation aside I said ok.

Fast forward about 6 months and the girl isn't coming up to speed so we start putting the pressure on her.. At that point she keeps coming into my office to review resumes, kneeling down beside me putting her hand on my knee and laughing (PS, I'm engaged), walking away and standing by the door with her azz towards me..... One time she even wore this shirt to work with one shoulder strap, our CFO told her to go home and change her outfit and gave her the employee handbook to re-read.

Fast forward some more...she's still not producing and now she's starting to get mad.. She's arguing with people, including me and some others and more importantly she's challenging our CEO on numerous occaision.... Finally she quits... At the time I let my shoulders down because it was for the better...

Few months later we get contacted by her attorney and she's suing us for sexual harrassment... Our CEO doesn't back down and presses the suit as far as possible and counter sues... Half way thru the proceedings her case busts open at the seams and her lawyer calls us up to say they want to rescind the suit.... Too late we say..... A week later the lawyer resigns from her case, we go to court and she's charged... She doesn't pay her dues and a lein is put in her name so it can follow her around whenever she wants to buy a car/house she's screwed....:leaving::lurk5:

I spoke to our CEO about it and his reason for pushing it all the way for the top is he wanted to make an example out of her. He felt that if we "settled" we would have the red flag whether we were guilty or innocent just because we settled... Then we could also be a target for other people looking for money... I had to agree with him and I'm glad she got what she had coming to her. :seeya:

And that's my fault.....I got a little sensitive with Ted's comment.

I apologize for hijacking the thread and making into something it wasn't meant to be Sean.

Flip side of the same coin... Glad to hear that it worked out for the best. Also credit to you guys for being willing to take a chance on someone even though they'd made bad choices in the past, even though it didn't work out. Plus I bet she was like totally hot! :reddevil:

When I went from working construction to working in a corporate setting it was a big change for me.
I was so used to having a guy with a nickname like dikface on the job site, and when somebody did something stupid, you chucked a 2x4 at them.

My first months in corp. I was looking for 2x4's all the time:willy_nilly:

I apologize for upsetting you Barb, I look back on that post and realize I was kinda one sided and probably unfair, hopefully she'll have her day in court.
