Ford 350 vs. Chevy 3500HD

Well, first off, the two trucks you list are one-ton trucks.

For pure towing, I would go with the Ford.

For a more comfortable daily driver, go with the Chevy.

Good luck!

You may have a hard time buying a 3/4 ton dually........a 3/4 ton truck is a 2500 and one ton is a 3500.

Ford is still trying to get their diesels right, after reading Chuck's experience with his F450 I would give Ford a few more years to get the trucks right.

GM's Duramax has been great for me but I have heard the horror stories especially when tuned. Seems to be a lack of 2010 inventory right now with the GM stuff from what I have seen on my local dealer's lot and ebay.

This is going to be good. :lurk5:

If you're looking for a 3/4-ton dually, good luck. ;)

But I'd do Ford all the way.

If you are talking new trucks I think the Duramax Allison combination cant be beat. However Ford will have an all new diesel next year and maybe their reliability will improve.

Any of the newer diesels are all prone to problems because of the low sulfur diesel and the EPA manidate pollution requirements. That being said Ford should have their all new 2010 6.7 liter diesels by spring time. This motor and programing is all new ford designed
ford built, it will be coupled to a newly designed tranny. If it were me I would wait for the new one to hit the dealers. We haven't had any problems with the 6.4 liters that we have sold but we haven't sold that many maybe 20-30 units.

I have an '04 F250. Probably one of the top 3 all time favorite vehicles I've ever owned. It's my first Ford truck. Always had Chevy stuff before that. I'd be hard pressed to buy another newer Checy truck again.

I have a 2001 3500 Chevy and love it! For a personal comfortable truck that has all the towing capacity (and the Alison Trans.) I vote Chevy/GMC.
That being said, my company has a fleet of f-350 mason dumps, utility bodies, etc. and they hold up extremely well. They ride harder than the Chevy's and the interior is much less comfortable.
There also seems to be more problems with the new Ford diesels than the Chevy's. A few of my co-workers have newer Ford diesels and are really disappointed. Haven't heard many complaints about the Chevy's.

Hey Tom, I never even had a p/u until I got my Ford 450, 08! I love it it, used it as a daily driver 4 a long X! The turning radius is unbelievable 4 a full crew long box!! Last I new the wider front wheels R only on the 450, not the 350! Worth the extra truck!!!! good luck!!:seeya:

The truck I miss the most was a 2005 F 350 SRW dual cab 4x4 PSD Lariat. Love that truck. I hate a fricking dually. Been there, done that.

Had a 2005 F350 6.0 - NO problems
Have a 2008 F350 6.4 - NO problems. VERY happy with my choice.
Plus you know Ford will be around in the future, Chevy? Dodge?

All Dodge diesels are made in Mexico...............All GM diesels are made in Flint, MI (my 03 was Texas)

Open the driver's door and read the last line on the sticker.......

Any day of the week. Actually I'd take my built 48RE that I have behind my Cummins over both of them.

why not just get an ATS built trans. why would you take the ford trans over the allison? if i had the choice it'd be ford truck with a 5.9L cummins and the allison. or just an f650 with the CAT diesel. :drool5:

as far as F350 vs 3500, both have ups and downs, as long as you dont put a tune or abuse either one they will probably do exactly what you want for a long time. i'd take the ford, i like fords though.
