Flare Guns

I was surfing the net a while back and ran across 26.5mm flare guns. I used to work on commercial boats and have seen the difference between USCG approved 12 guage flares and SOLAS flares.
The toy plastic Orion flares from West Marine do not compare.
I shot my Polish flare gun with a CZ white star military flare this evening and "HOLY CHIT". If you are in distress these are the ticket for little money.
I bought red star and orange smoke for real distress and green and white star flares for fun.
Don't shoot red or orange because they are the real deal distress signals. You will get in trouble and its not cool.
If the Coast Guard checks you these will not count for the inspection but if you get into a bind they could save your life. You still have to have the mickey mouse "West Marine" flares with a current date.
I use http://www.ammunitiontogo.com

I have a S&W 37mm flare gun. You can get bean bag and some other fun cartridges, like CN and CS gas, smoke, hard rubber pellets, sting balls, pepper balls, etc. And some big-assed parachute flares.
