exhaust question - Y pipes

Hey everyone, I noticed that years ago everyone was using a Y-style exhaust pipe on their offshore powerboats and now most are not. What are the pro's and con's to this type of exhaust. I prefer the sound of the Y - Pipe. Thanks

the y pipes are usually used on the higher rpm NA engines, blower engines don't need the extra scavenging help of the merger of pipes.

Supercat 750's mostly still use the Y pipe. The sound you like is more than likely the 7600 rpm they run them at...
