Ever run across an old boat of yours?

I sold my 2001 Baja 25 OL to a local guy out of Sarasota in '04 and completely lost touch. Last year, I get an email from a fellow from LOTO who had bought the boat from the guy I sold it to. It was nice to see that the boat was being well-taken care of and enjoyed it as much as we did. We still keep in touch every now and again. It's like getting a glimpse of an old girlfriend many years later.

:D

Back when I sold my 31 Bullet, I was living in Virginia. The guy who bought it lived in Maryland and he asked if it was OK to keep the name of "OldSchool" on it. I said I didn't care.....I've moved since then and the guy ..and my old boat, live less than 2 miles from us!!! I'm glad that I named the TopGun "OldSchool II"!! :sifone::sifone:

Last summer on a poker run with Catastrophe, we passed not one but two of alec's x boats and then, not 15 minutes later passed one of mine that I had not seen since 1990 when I traded it on my now x powerplay.

John - it's cool you still have contact with your old boat.
With my boat, there are at least two on THIS board that have owned her before me, and I like that. I know her life story, and I think they both like seeing pictures of it, and what I've been doing to her.
The engine went back in today, but still need to adjust/align, and plenty more re-rigging is in the works.

MAYBE you had Karma with the boat????
Come'on, a boat has a soul. You had a life/relationship with the boat.
I thought we discussed this recently.
Just lowering the motor back into my boat today - she was speaking to me - and she was happy.

I do see one of my old boats from time to time... I hear it's in a million pieces. :26:

Our 36 Chris burned to the ground, but it's melted brass props are in my old man's office.

No clue where the Sea-Rays ended up... The Bueller is still in my mother's driveway and I'm pretty sure I could find the Pen Yann pretty quick if I ever went up to that Marina up near the end of Long Pond Rd. in Greece NY.

Card Sha....??? Wait, I know... Tim's boat. :D:26:

I think that would be more than a million pieces.

I think mine is actually under 50,000 pieces. But they are spread all over the place.
I currently have an outdrive in the backseat of the Avalanche.

Have a safe trip Tim! Don't worry, the boat has gone that way and back twice in the past couple of years, it know where to go! :D

Anyone know who bought my old 42 Fountain Ex? '06 w/ 600's. Sold through Shogren. I have lots of pics of the "Moisture Missle" :)

Mine's in several hundred pieces... I am not sure how I escaped that fact here. :)

A few boats back, I sold a 1979 Nova210xl to a guy from Canada. His family has a place near the haystack islands and as a younger man he used to love those Novas. I had repowered the boat with a custom 350 and really put some tlc in the boat. It was my first "rescue." If I hadn't saved that boat it would have ended up junked. The value had dropped to almost nothing by the time that I repowered it and started a stem to stern restoration.
We emailed back and forth, he came for a day of sea trials and inspection... and off it went. At first a local marine mechanic in his area expressed shock and horror at those terrible non-merc items, like an Edelbrock performer intake... over time the buyer realized that it was a trustworthy ride. He has kept it ever since and has kept up the maintenance. He has become a rough water lover... as those boats will do. I consider the Nova a "gateway" drug that leads to terrible things like Apaches and Sabers. ;)
He sent me an email yesterday. I am very proud of his work.

I sent him a couple pics of the Apache. He always knew that I was into this just a little too deep. :D

Here's my old baby... courtesy of Georgian Bay Tom.

That was my brothers boat. He made a single cushion to go over the engine compartment. That was where my nephew slept.
