Custom 68 Camaro stolen.

185K is a lot of coin to have into a 40 year old resto rod.... That car would be lucky to pull 1/2 that at an auction in today's market. The builder said it, the car is too unique to sell so it has to get chopped and the value on that is maybe powertrain, wheels, interior? These guys stole something that has very little street value. I would bet they could get more for a new Escalade or Corvette than for this car and could probably get away with it easier! Now if it was a random crime where the thieves were just lucky to get a dually with a trailer that happened to have a expensive car in it then they just had dumb luck...but if the owner had it insured then he gets some of his coin back.

I was just clearing the air on what the link stated the value was.

As great of a job they did with this car; my taste would have me drooling more over a bone stock clean 1968 than this one.

This is the fourth classic Camaro to turn up missing in our area in the last two years. This car has been sighted in the same area that the other three were recovered in. Since this car has been stolen a roofing company across the road from them had a scissor truck stolen with 90 squares of shingles and a business just down the road had a 100k horse trailer stolen. All items were sighted heading the same direction the car was reported seen. Too many weird things going on that indicate everything BUT an insurance job.

This car is not what I would consider a normal build for these guys. Originals are their specialty and more common for them to do. Take a look in the back ground of the news coverage inside their shop. You can see what they normally do. At the end of the day the customer dictates the finished product with his wallet.

The actual owner of the car has spent a better part of the last two weeks digging up leads on the case. Many days off work and many miles traveled getting the word out. 90% of the leads found have been dug up by him, not the investigators.

No tracking system on the car. I have encourage the owner of the shop to invest in these for all of his customers along with video cameras for the shop. The owner is a little old school and for some reason thinks this type of stuff costs thousands of dollars to do. I have tried to educate him otherwise. Keep in mind we are somewhat rural around here.

the whole thing really sux.....sad.

this guy needs to get with the f'king program.....:smash:

when my boat was stolen there was all kinds of speculation about it it might be......Montreal, Columbia you name it even Russia.....turned up a yr later less than 30mi from where it was stolen......

You would think a few video cameras might be in order for that neighborhood with that kind of crime wave going on.... Shingles/construction equipment can be used anywhere without much chance of getting caught but custom cars/horse trailers are going to stick out with the locals/enthusiasts for sure.

It's too late to close the gate once the cattle are gone.
