That's interesting. When Skater built the Jet Set turbine boat, same big turbines as the Sheik's boat. we had to calculate out the air in and air out, and air used by the turbine engine to make sure at speed the pressure in the engine compartment met a minimum requirement for the engine to make power. It has to have a minimum positive pressure.

A turbine engine requires positive pressure to run. The heated and accelerated gas has enough energy to run the turbine and exit it at close to ambient pressure, but with much more speed than the flight speed, generating a net thrust. The minimum flow requirements for a turbine are 20 cfs at 40 psi.
We had to calculate out the airflow in, have airflow out, but make sure that the minimum pressure, no matter what the speed. was way more than the 40psi above. I'm, trying to remember what it was, but I have an entire set of pages at home somewhere with the calculations Bill did. No way I could have done it. The numbers were huge, so were the scoops we put on the boat!
