It's kind of frustrating when I lesten to the reports of his accomplishments on the news. They seem to forget his biggest two, and the stories that go along with them.
Like when he won two Formula World Championships over Ferrari, but actually would have won a third a year sooner, but the Ferrari guys controlled the last race and cancelled it at the last minute so Shelby couldn't beat them. Shelby said he would have beat the Ferrari's with all three of his Daytonas and hogged the entire podium as he had been doing the last half of the season. He vowed to return and kick their butts, and did.....
Or, one of my favorites. He was approached by Iacocca and Lee said something like, "I want you to make the Mustang into a sports car". Shelby answered something like, "I can't. It's not a sports car." Lee said something like, "You don't understand. You work for me and don't have a say in it, do it."
