BRP receives NMMA Innovation award at Miami
18 Feb 2015

BRP received the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association (NMMA) 2015 Innovation Award at the Miami International Boat Show for its Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboard engine.

The award is recognition of the new engine’s performance, bold breakthrough design, and value for money.

Unveiled to the industry last June at a dealer event, the Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboard is the first “clean sheet of paper” engine design by BRP since it acquired the Evinrude brand in 2001. The result is a line-up of new, industry-leading engines ranging from 200 hp to 300 hp and, according to BRP, delivering 20 percent more torque, up to 15 percent better fuel efficiency and up to 75 percent fewer total regulated emissions than leading competitors’ four-stroke engines.

“Receiving this prestigious award is a true testament to the innovation that we’ve achieved with this new technology,” said Alain Villemure, vice-president and general manager of BRP’s Marine Propulsion Systems division.

“To make such a bold statement and deliver this revolutionary new technology to the marine industry is something that we are very proud of.”

"The Miami International Boat Show Innovation Awards recognize significant contributions to marine technology,” said NMMA president Thom Dammrich. “NMMA congratulates all of this year's Innovation Award winners for their dedication to building excellent products that help fuel recreational boating.
