Jon Stewart sums it up:

"Scott Brown is now apparently the 45th president of these United States Of America! Wooo! Yeah baby! Welcome. It has been a long, incredibly grueling couple of days since we first heard of this man. And now he's in charge of everything."

Americans got swindled into electing Mr. Marketing when in fact he has done nothing productive. I liked Clinton and hated the stupidity of G.W. Bush but voted for McCain simply because Obama was the unknown, from the unknown promising the world to the minorities.

McCain lost the election (in part), due to many of the very same people that kept Bush in office. He remained in office because he ran against people stupider than himself. But as long as you have people that lie and tear down a McCain, nothing will change.

But as you can see, there are many Republicans, and Democrats, left that are content to tear down anyone and everything that doesn't fit their own specific mild. Regardless of how big a failure their ideas have been in the past, they move forward. Dubya was like that, so are Pelosi and Reid, and many others.

Clinton was a masterpiece comparatively.

My expectations are that the financial troubles with the states are so severe, the economy will fall and limp along for much of the decade. With idiots on both sides, the only thing people can do is to bet against them all.

We need to change it. There is no reason a visitor work system cannot be put in place like almost every other advanced country. You have a job lined up, you work, you pay taxes, you do not get citizenship. If you lose your job, you go home. Can't be all that tough, we decide to politicize these things instead of fixing them by using a little common sense.

The only problem is now that we invited them here and utilized their labors, we no longer have jobs for them. That and the Dems are drooling over turning them into citizens and voters. Dem voters.

It already exists....illegal immigrants just don't utilize it and/or their skills don't qualify as "specialized" or "skilled".

TN Visa work permits are one of the easiest to obtain thanks to the NAFTA agreement... Any Canadian Citizen or Mexican Citizen can work here with a permit for as long as they please.. All they have to do is show up at the border with an employment letter, TN Letter which explaining the tasks they will be responsible for and they get the stamp of approval and enter the US and are paid the same as you and I and pay taxes just like you and I. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TN_visa

Next, H-1B Visa's have been in existance for many years... Again, if the employer is willing to pay for it (rougly $4K to sponsor, includes lawyer fee's and visa processing), they can work in the US for a total of 3 years, extendable for an additional 3 yrs... What scares me is that so many Americans turn to Jon Stewart for their news. Have we as a nation become so brain-dead that we have to be tricked into paying attention to events around us? It's pretty sad when news has to be hidden inside of comedy routines and satire to get people exposed to it. Like hiding an aspirin in applesauce so the three-year-old will take it.

Almost thrown under the bus inside a couple of days, but not under the wheels yet. I think it pays to get daily updates on the multitude of positions, then come up with a monthly average, or simply adopt the position last stated.

In 2008 and last year, Volcker was a villain, a complete imbecile. Greenspan was a genius for low rates, until he wasn't. Barney Frank was the guy responsible for the world's meltdown, before new villains were found. Deregulation was all important, before it became Barney's fault for blocking it. Executive compensation is a huge issue, but we'll have to wait to see who comes up with a good answer, or no answer at all, before we form an opinion on it.

The Wall Street and overall bank issues will be fun to watch, and probably more interesting and informative on Stewart's show. Thank goodness Brown hates regulation, and thinks we need far less of it. At least through this past Tuesday he did.

But poor Scott, he went from being a true conservative to a liberal Republican in two days flat. Quite remarkable :willy_nilly:

I totally agree with you on this one. However, Jon Stewart and The Daily Show get their rating by using comedy. They don't have to cater to the left (MSNBC) or the right (FoxNews). They are free to say anything they wish and not worry about looking foolish, because they already are foolish.

Stewart's admonishment of Olbermann is a prefect axample of this...

"Olbermann, you can't stoop to name calling! That's my job!"

I believe that you will get a more "fair and balanced" news story from The Daily Show than you ever will from Fox News!
