A woman was recovering Friday from serious burns suffered in a boat explosion and fire, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

The blast happened at 2:42 p.m. at 801 Seabreeze Blvd., next to Fire Station 49, spokesman Robert Bacic said.

An 18-foot Sea Ray was being fueled at the dock near Bahia Mar when it exploded. Firefighters had the flames under control quickly, he said.

The injured woman was taken as a life support patient to Broward Health Medical Center, Bacic said.

Another person fell into the water during the blast, but managed to get back onto the dock safely. That person was treated and taken to the hospital as a precaution, he said.

Firefighters checked the surrounding water for possible pollution from fuel and other contaminants to minimize the environmental impact. The boat was heavily damaged, Bacic said.

Fire investigators were trying to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Man, that would really make you jump at the fuel dock if you were anywhere close. Any more investigation results?
