Best Way to Clean Docklines?

Ok Guys, I searched the threads and couldn't find any info.
My lines are fairly new and in great shape, just got a bit of mildew and that great odor that goes with it. I am under the impression that I can just throw them in the washing machine (perhaps in a mesh bag) on gentle with laundry detergent. Then into the dryer with fabric softener.
Any thoughts?

put them in the washing machine on "gentle" cycle, use fabric softner but do not put them in the dryer. Makes one heck of a giant knot. Hang them to dry and they'll be good as new.

well Tom i cheated and thru mine in the swimming pool for three days, they came out clean, and soft,,good luck,!

If using the washer do 1 at a time!

I learned the hard way

Actually that mesh bag sounds good, 1 per bag should do it.

Add a cap full of bleach to a bucket of water. Soak. Force the water from every inch of the lines before hanging to dry.

I just soaked mine in soap and water. Then spay then with the hose as you pull them out.Let the water blast of any remaining dirt.

I have always used a pillow case in the wash machine........I have also been wondering about the dishwasher...it works for hats.....just lay the rope around the top rack?

stuff called stain solver works great, and on anything you can think of. its oxygen bleach like oxyclean but stronger. just soak in it for a few hours. i got a pail of it this year and use it on lots of stuff, very impressed

Pressure washer at 100-120 PSI from a safe enough distance not to fray them. Then put them in the dryer for a really long time but medium heat with some dryer sheets. They were tangled but easy to untangle because they were so soft and then hung them til Spring.
