I just got mine. It has gone down the past two years in a row. Because the boat is paid off, I only have it insured for 70K and have NEVER had a claim. Now.......

....Whammo, it goes up $400 with no explanation, no call, no kiss, no hug, nothing. Just a nice letter thanking me for renewing and a bill.

Has anyone elses gone up this year?

NO CLAIM? What about that trailer incident? If that boat is causing trouble on the trailer can you imagine what could happen on the water with you behind the wheel? :sifone:

I'm planning on making an angry call to the agent tomorrow asking him to explain a 33% increase. :ack2::willy_nilly::cuss::icon_bs: It went down $5 for the second year and $100 last year.

No claim on my insurance from a kid backing into the trailer. His insurance is taking care of it.

just switched one boat to Stacey at wake zone

I contacted Stacy a while back. She is very helpful!!! However, it's almost impossible to initiate a new policy on a boat that is 20 years old, regardless of the value of the boat. It can be done, but you get it right in the azz on the price!!:ack2::ack2: She recommended that I stay with my existing policy. That was very professional of her IMHO. :)

Of course, that was before I learned of the 33% increase.

Handled.

I had forgotten that I have insurance on my Whaler through a buddy that is an Insurance guy. It seems that if you have an existing policy, any boat can be added according to their policy rules. Called my guy and Voila, triple the coverage on the liability (1 million vs. 300K) and same coverage on the boat and trailer .....for $800 less than my renewal.

Skeptical? Yes, I was at first until he explained it. If someone walks in who has a company car that they drive everyday and no personal car and wants to insure a Ferrari...no chance! If that same person has a policy on their GMC Yukon and wants to insure a Ferrari, no problem. You can only drive one at a time!

My Whaler is my primary boat. I put at least twice as many hours on it every year(over 100 on the Whaler last year vs 43 on the TopGun). My TopGun is now boat #2 on that policy. Makes sense to me.....and it's going to be great not having worry that if something happens, the true HP and speed numbers on the Cig. are on the policy now!!:cheers2::) Being legit is soo much nicer!
