My current job is putting demands on my schedule that make it very difficult being the father I want to be for my children. When I was in banking I could use my vacation time whenever I wanted and chaperoned all of my daughters 6th grade field trips. Now it is getting difficult to even make simple every other weekend visitations. I know the real estate business will make a turn before too long and have thought about getting involved at some level. I am fairly new to the area I currently live in and have experience lending, mostly commercial, and good referral sources where I moved from, just 2 hours away. I enjoyed the banking business and at times regret exiting. Things are a little slower with my current job during the summer so I have considered entering the mortgage business to transition into full time over the next 4-6 months.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any companies I should look into or questions I should ask when considering a company. I would hope to find a company to stay with long term and could do residential or commercial loans.

i just got out of the mortgage business....i loved it when times were good...it's best if you know ALOT of people where you live....put a full page ad in all the phone books....i would look into smaller private mortgage companies...way more flexible with hours and pay......they will usually pay you 50% of what the deal does...so the $ is good....lmk if you have any questions...
