Very well done. It left me with a lump in my throat. My father's father was a wooden boat builder in northern Maine and my dad helped him all the time. My dad had a wooden Owens cruiser and I would spend my full spring break from school to help him get it water ready every year. It was GREAT father son time...none better!! He loved boats and love to share his knowledge about boats with everyone that would listen. My dad had many boats over the years and the family learned everything we could from him and the boats from water sports to maintenance. He would say, "If you ride, you will work". He planned to retire on a boat and in fact bought his retirement boat but sadly he passed just months before retiring. Now all of his sons have boats and we are all passing his passion for them on to our children. He was a great man and is missed dearly.

We spent the weekend, every weekend, on the cruiser. I'll never forget the way he would wake everyone up at sunrise. He would bang on the pots and pans and say, "Time to clean. I want those of you forward to clean aft, those of you aft to clean forward, and those of you amidships...DIRECT THE TRAFFIC". It would drive us NUTS! Man what I would give to hear that right now.

Thanks for sharing your video. It made my day!!

Very well done.... Thank you for posting. I sure miss our 268 Sundancer. Happy Fathers day everyone :USA::driving::hurray:

As the others, it brought me to tears from happy memories, simpler times, and what your parents, my parents, our parents, gave to us.
Thank you.

Thanks everyone ... The little boat in the video was a ( 1964 17' Chetek ) it was purchased second hand by my grandfather in 1965 and passed on to my dad in the early 70's when Gramps passed on .

My Dad took that boat everywhere, it has been fishing 15 miles offshore off Atlantic City NJ and was towed back by a Navy ship cause the motor crapped out . It had been taken on vacation on every major body of water in the NE and has made it up the Hudson and up thru Lake Champlain VT a couple of times. My Dad ran & maintained that boat and kept it in new condition until 1989 when the screws holding the clapboards to the stringers finally rotted out .

I spent the first 20 summers of my life on that boat .I had alot of great memories from claming of the Jersey shore with my Uncle Jack at age 5 to making my first trip down to and around Manhattan NY ( about 100 miles round trip ) by myself and some buddies at the age of 15.

Its amazing how a little wooden boat had such an amazing impact on so many lives.

Happy fathers day everyone... May your kids have the same great memories on your boat as I did on my dads.
