Looked a a nice pontoon boat, had a sticker on the back with an American flag and a bald eagle with the words"Made with pride in America".I liked that. Then I looked at the Suzuki outboard on the transom, but could not find a sticker that said "Made with pride in Japan":) For some reason,I thought that was funny:) Guess it should have been a Merc.

We buy allot of Bolts & Nuts from MSC for Machine assembly and repair, They have an import brand called "Made in USA" which I think is F'ing BullSh*t. who ever let them import something with that brand name on it should be strung up by the Nuts..

Nice......

It is the little things that make the day worthwhile sometimes......

Ends tomorrow(Sunday). They probrably got hammered today,as the Titans and Ravens are playing about a block away,we were going to go today instead of Fri but I was told you could not park anywhere close on Sat.We have a similar problem In our Bham show,as the last day(Sun) is Super Bowl Sunday.

This will continue on and on unless the public stops buying the imported engines, until then we are down to one outboard builder limping along.

We are already down to one American builder(Merc).I have been a Merc dealer for 43 years but the public doesn't seem to want them. They want the Japanese 4-strokes. Merc was very slow to embrace the 4-strokes and the Verado based engines have not been accepted as well as maybe they should have. The boat builders I deal with, with pontoons and deck boats and smaller center consoles don''t even offer Mercs because the rigging is complicated. So I am pretty much forced to order Honda,Yamaha,or Suzuki. But,hey, they are great engines and the buyers seem to prefer them.I used to bleed black, but things have changed.

I know when I was overseas I tried and tried to get the military there to use Mercurys No Dice so I used them on my personal stuff and the raceboats.Every thing else was Yamaha they had 250 engines at the base and every day another truck load of powerheads was coming in the gate.

Shame of it is!! this was all over Merc keeps dropping the ball.

well most all black genuine merc 4 strokes except the verodo are manufactured by yamaha so even if you think its made here in the usa because its a genuine merc you have been bait and switched But those yamaha small 4 strokes do run extremely well maybe its a good thing.....the verodo is what we nicknamed the dodo i think they figured they could sell them to the goverment but that may not have worked so well either the coasties here have 2 triple engined boats..... Honda powered

The current 75/90/115 Mercs are now made by Merc in the USA. The Yamaha versions went away 2-3 years ago. While they are not called Verados, they are based on the Verado non-supercharged platform. My 2 cents, they are coyote ugly and about a third larger than they should be. A friend is using them on a fleet of workboats and he says they are every bit as good, maybe better, than theMerc/Yams he had been using. But the ultimate proof is in the sales to the public, and I am not seeing public acceptance,I am seeing Japanese 4-strokes.

up here we have several charter boats(salmon)with a 25 4 stroke yamaha kicker trolling motor several have over 6000hrs they just start burning a bit of oil so the guys trade them in....buyer beware as theres no way to tell if it is really wupped
