As alot of U know I am bldg a new 477 NT w/ Ilmor 725/Indy's! Ilmor recommends the aerators! They have done them on the 1 43 Sunny, 400 Formula SS, & they R on a new 38 Formula Fastech! They claim they help CONSIDERABLY 2 plane the boats??? thoughts???? Yes, there is an upshot 4 them!!:willy_nilly:

The X Drive comes with aeration ducta built in. I wonder if a similar setup for testing both ways would make sense????

The X Power Drive contains all required oil in a baffled and filtered oil tank. This allows the oil to settle, cool, and deaerate before being reintroduced back into the drive. Oil changes are a breeze, just remove the drain plug let the oil in the tank drain then install the drain plug and fill the required amount back into the tank. The X Power Drive will use your stock drive fluid reservoir with one exception, their will never be any oil in the reservoir. The X Power Drive will only use the reservoir as a source of vent to atmosphere that the drive will require. No modification will be necessary, if you are using a stock bottle just remove the rubber one-way check valve this will allow the bottle to vent. Any other bottles just allow a hole to vent to atmosphere. The cavitation plate, back cover and top cover are made of pre preg epoxy auto claved carbon fiber. The aeration tube is built straight into the top cap and back cover. If needed merely open the naca ducts air inlet and the cav plates lower outlet and you now have a beautiful built in aeration tube. The looks are that of an F-1 racecar not plumbing for your sprinklers, and the function is that of the space shuttle. The cavitation plate also covers the trim rams improving on the outward looks.

i saw plans for aerators for the 6 drive a few yrs ago. they were integral to the back cover and looked just like the 6 uppe case just longer. dont think they were ever produced.

those ugly tubes work at getting the boat up. i saw in proboat last month that buzzi used them on the orig trimax and another drive they showed. i could dig it up and scan pics if you wanted.

id think there would be an easy way to build something into the drive- run it along the cav plate and up from behind or on the side. if those v10s don't have the bottom end to pull the boat up quickly id think ilmor would have something in the works. theyre no slouches at engineering. and those 10s sound sooooo cool.

I like the ugly tubes, it's industrial, it's like this shiny boat up front.......and all business in the back.

ya know- you can't see them when its docked and theyre damn hard to see when running. so if people point an laugh at em while im towing my half-mil $$ boat, the f them.

i agree the round rubber ones look cheesy. how hard tho to make them look better? my guess is that they use rubber to keep someone from grabbing the tube and busting the cav plate.

id think abt running a pair of tubes from under the cav plate and bending up to right next to where the drive bolts to the helmet. Maybe use alum box tube painted the same color theyd be tough to see

Is that the exhaust routed to aerate?

Pic is definitely suitable for framing.

theres flappers on the backside of those strut castings so guessing when idle exh comes out the top and running thru the flapper. vents work by venturi. when you move fwd they draw air down

I just got off the phone with Wrink at the boat show. He had a long talk with Bob Teague yesterday and has made up his mind to go with the aerators. I guess they also have results on the Sunsation 43 that had Ilmors and the planing time was cut in half when they added aerators to it.

Here are a couple pics of the Nor-Tech 477 hull number one from Wrink. Wrink's will be hull #2.....

#1 is Merc 1350 package I believe.

If the boat is set up with big props and high X to go fast you have to aerate the props. Once it is up only half of the prop is biting while its coming on plane the entire prop is biting and bogging the engine down.

Does your car like to come off a light in 3rd gear?
