Something Good Happening in our Industry.

Actually, it is the other way around right now. Foreign (at least European) boats are getting less expensive for US buyers, while US products are getting MORE expensive for European purchasers. We sell English (Fairline), French (Prestige) and Italian (Euromarine/Jaguar) production yachts...

    HORBA sad news

I agree, "Powerboat" magazine wasn't nearly as interesting after John left. His column would give you a clear impression of what went on at the previous month's races. He really could "paint a picture" with his words. I have a signed copy of "Searace" that now seems a bit more special. RIP...

    Merc marine built ZR1 engines?

Actually, I think Lotus was involved in the design of the ZR-1 engine (I could be wrong about that, but it seems to be in my memory bank somewhere. Then again, I'm getting old!). I certainly wasn't implying that Lotus had anything to do with those lousy old 4-bangers!

    Merc marine built ZR1 engines?

I thought the conventional wisdom was that GM picked Merc to do the ZR-1 engines because of the aluminum casting experience that Merc had from (of all things) the 470-series in-line 4-cylinder engines from the mid 70's! If I remember correctly, it was a Lotus-designed engine as well.

    Performance Boats Drops Colby Column

I've known Eric for quite a while and I don't think his article is over-the-top or insenstitive in any way. The events of that evening were absolutely a tragedy, and one that probably (like many tragedies) could have been avoided. He is merely pointing out how it possibly could have been...

    aronow powerboats history?

I sold a few of these in the early 90's (we were a dealer for Aronow Powerboats). There is no way the 37' did anywhere near 65 mph with the 420 TRS package. I would say 60 mph max on a good day! It really needed big power to get it going, but they were built like tanks, with a very high level...

    Heart Beat 10m Fountain

Don't know about the "winningest offshore race boat ever" claim, because I definitely think that would belong to the 30' Shadow Cat "Black Duck"/"Boardwalk". Also, the 28' Manta "Fever" would be right up there IMHO. However, that 33' Fountain sure as hell won a lot of races in the early 90's...

It was certainly an honor to be inducted, but many of the names don't match the boat they are with on that video (including mine!) Tom Caruso Euromarine Special (P-16), Chris-Cat Total Marine Racing (F2-32), Formula
