Bravo on Versus Bravo XR size

Anchorman, The B1 and XR input shafts have never had the same size ujoint!!! Your seller is incorrect.. There are four different size joints.. B1 are smaller.. one with grease fittings and one without.. the one without is the metric joint.. Same with XR.. started with a very large ujoint cap...

    Bravo XR change to ?

The Merc vertical shaft is not the same spline as the SCX. So it used to be, you had to install an SCX vertical shaft in the Merc or SC lower in order to bolt it up. They are in the process of making the couplers now, so you can bolt up a Merc or SC lower without replacing the Vertical shaft in...

    Bravo U-Joints -

txriverrat, the old style input shaft will fit. The splines on the yoke are the same for the old and new input shafts. There are still the two different sizes of splines on the yoke. The small one fits the B1 gears and the large one fits the XR gears. So if you have a B1 you can sub the old...

    Shortening a Bravo Lower

Matt, I dont know if he ever actually ran one?? I know the cavitation plate had to be moved up by the prop, but I am not sure how he did it or what.. I would think the two sections would have to be welded back together very accurately or there could be misalingment and would cause problems...

    Isky Red Zone EZ-Roll lifters

    Bravo 1.50 gears

The XZ gears are the thick floored gears and the input shaft is the same size as the XR, (splines on the yoke are larger). The teeth on the gears are the same between the Bravo HP and the XZ..

    Shortie Shafts for Bravo's?

Friend of mine was doing that, slice and dice I dont remember if he cut the shaft or replaced it. But you had to cut the caviation plate and put a step in it. The Imco cases are nicely done these days. Just alot of work the other way. But then again, if some one is talented and can do it, go...

    Shortie Shafts for Bravo's?

Geronimo, when you buy an Imco case it comes with the shaft, standard, -1, or -2". The Imco shaft is a much better shaft than the merc stuff anyway. Dick

    IMCO Lower question

No Matt, there is no provision for the speedo. That port on the lower is used to supply water to the upper on the Imco SC drive.. If you hooked your speedo to it.. it would show you are going real fast, I believe.. :)

    bravo failure

    That is good news!!

    bravo failure

Here is what the XR gear looks like inside. That cavity goes all the way around the gear. That must be where it is welded together and it is a weak point..

    bravo failure

Rogue, I normally dont helicoil unless the threads are damaged. I dont like to use larger studs, either, the case is pretty thin in that area and drilling to a larger dia makes it that much thinner. The holding power of the 3/8" studs is sufficient in normal operation of the drive. I like to...
