Only 40lbs oil pressure after re-build.

Yes, what rogue said. You use 1/2 shells in 1 over/under to get the .0005".

    Anyone looking for a fairing?

I'd take it if it would work on a panther. Got pics and dims? BT

    Carb Jetting

I'm with you PY. We aren't all looking for hardcore racer methods.... For the OP which seems to have disappeared.... 77/92 should make this tune rich, which is a good start. An 800cfm carb on a 502cid might need to be leaned some if the airflow is insufficient. Believe it or not, the...

    Raising the X

It looks like you are going to spot the holes in the stringers to mount the engine mount mounts, right? That seems like a good way to make sure the amount the engine needs to go rearward due the raising the x is a non issue.

    Carb Jetting

That is stock marine holley calibration. I would go up 5 jets sizes front and rear to 77/92 and run a 6.5pv in the primary only. Then go from there preferably with a O2 sensor in the exhaust to get the actual a/f numbers.

41 Apache running in Key West

Great vid John! The only thing that would have made that a better vid is a certain panther threading the needle between bob and ike, oh yeah :sifone:

    .060" spark plug gap?

When you say flat thru the mid on up do you mean the a/f ratio stayed at say, 13 at 3000 and 13 at 5500? My dominators are lean in the mid range and fatten up on the top due to the power valves I presume. Oh yeah, I run .038" gaps, with tbolt ignition and blowers. No misfires I can detect.

    Trendz Pushrods?

I meant for 8. It was about $200 for 16 and I got the .080" wall. $350 for 16 you must have gotten thier super special pushrod :willy_nilly:

    Trendz Pushrods?

I run Trend pushrods too. $100/set for a nice one piece. They look much like comps high perf pushrod, exact even.

    Broken Drive Shaft?!?!

I think when you get right down to it, its like this. The schooled and experienced merc guys have lots of reps with problems and formulate an absolute solution for it. 90% of the time this is correct for customers applications, the other 10% they wing it. Then you combine that mentallity...

    38 Top Gun Cooling Problem

5/7 are next to each other in the firing order so they would show the most heat due to retarted timing. Not to be a smart a!! but everything in an engine is interelated. I would have thought in 20 years you might have picked up on this. My bad, carry on with the tunnel vision.........

    38 Top Gun Cooling Problem

What do you think happens with not enough advance? It makes your exhaust gas temps high which could be why your paint is pealing. Like I said, it was just something to consider as a possible contributing factor.
