103 in an svl ?

If you ban any boats that have bottom work done you will lose half the fleet.Screw the designated mold phrase and do whatever the heck you want to the bottom and the deck.keep the 525,imco/bravo drive, length, weight.these boats have been tweaked for years and the bottom and deck are the only areas left to improve.(just my opinion!)

kinda like "I did not have sex with that woman"

Nope. More like what he actually said, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinski." Sexual relations is actually defined by Webster's as "sexual intercourse" and he was actually telling then truth about that, right? :beatdeadhorse5:

MDKEYWEST, I wish you would stop saying the class has hacked 525 computors. No one has EVER been cought cheating in the SVL class on there motors to date. If a team thought someone is cheating then they have the right to protest and have there equipment checked. So to date no race team has done that which means to me they feel there is no reason to do it.
When P-1 starts and they have strain guages i believe the illmore will be a great motor. Untill then the sealed merc 525 has been voted by the racers as the motor to be used.
Frank, What is inovations number and who do I speak to about dyno info?

randy it,s already done ,,they will do it now ,,I did it 6 months ago,,but you can call and talk to dave stiff,,,or ricky ( owner )

I don't think you can screw the dedicated mold. What the intent of that rule is, correct me if I'm wrong, is to stop the big dollar spenders from building one off hulls where the investment is not as great as a mold with multiple hulls for sale or sold.

Now, tweaking or modifications is the question.

What is 30' rule. Can a little boat come and play? Should be ready to play with you big boys in KW!

BOAT SPECIFICATIONS:
Super V Limited
Hull Type: Monohull (Canopy Recommended)
Length: 26’– 0” minimum to 32’-0” maximum
Beam Maximum: 8’6”
Number of Engines: One
Weight Minimum: 4750 lbs.
Engine Type: SBIP Certified Race Engine

I certainly hope you have it all dialed in by then.

We saw 91 last year, and was surprised. 92 maybe, 93 is long shot. If we run.

Cooler air will help, but is still just a standing mile. Might be bumping the start speed this year to 40 will help.

Than again We got new non leaking headers, and tail pipes. Got to worth 5 mph

Who's driving, you or Jenni? Estimated speed may change to a lower number if it's you........:D

Why Will you not Allow the ILLMORE in ?
admission .

You have a way to check the HP and torque on 525,s that are hacked already ( by youre classes own admission .Just Slow the 625 ? down . Can that be done ? Really I'm asking ,as I love the the scream of those motors . :hurray

Gino Marone Post a Sound edition of youre ilmore Please .

There is not one SVL owner who has said any of their boxes have been hacked. That was Smitty saying all boxes out there have been hacked he believed. I'm assuming that is from his experience in the SV class he runs, but I really am shooting in the dark on this one.

I do know all of the SVL's from last year had sealed boxes checked at a lot of races, so I would doubt it very much in that class.

The issues on admitting other engines than the two currently allowed is the torque of the V-10 vs the V-8 and the RPM range it should be allowed to run if approved for the class vs the 525.

Can it be worked out, I would guess yes. It will take a bunch of testing, and some compromise between the current owners and any upcoming new engines allowed.

If the P1 style torque limiter becomes available things, I'm sure, would change.

Currently Pat and Steve's comments about data collectors intrigues me.

No problem randy . I thought I read it on here. I believe I only repeated that staement once ,I will not mention it again . In fact I will pull it off.:blush5:

They cannot check the box, all they can do is give you another. If you want to end the box issue go with data aquiisition. I have two 525's with OSS/Mercury seals that have been raced and passed tech. I will bet you they have hot boxes and they are sealed. I have one in my Corsa now. If I put it in my SVL it will be faster and it will pass current tech and dyno over 600 HP.

Interesting, back to data acquistion again.

Curious, what do you think is done to the boxes to make them show that much of a horsepower improvement? And, why do you say it is undetectable?

Thanks Steve.

Don't worry about it. The integrity of a spec class is something which needs to be discussed if there is impropriety being thrown around. It wouldn't be the first time gossip ruined something that had great potential.

They fix the fuel curve (this also greatly improves acceleration)
add ignition timing
raise the rev limit.
This will net you 20-30 hp depending on your engine.

If you change the head gaskets to to .020" you can get more power.
The engine seals are out there at a reasonable price if you are inclined to do this.
You can also get even more output if you change the fuel curve/ignition timing for race fuel without ever opening the engine or removing the ECM.

The only way to truly check the box is to flash it race morning with the stock OEM specification. Things like check sum are a joke and easily spoofed.
Steve

Steve,

Doesn't the box need to be opened up to be modified? If so, aren't the seals broken over the screws that hold the box together?
