Quick Update from the Miami Boat Show Poker Run

The question was posted since you had so many MTI's and one or two Skaters. Merc 1200's is a lot of power. 155mph is a long way from 186. Matt's statements appears to be true of far and away. It would appear this new 388 Skater hull is extremely fast. You might want to erase the Skater graphics off that MTI treminator hull or put more power in that thing. Too Funny.

You are correct 155 is a long way from 186,But as i recall the Mti finished with both motors still running on Sunday,Can't say the same for the Skater. As i stated in my post,NO disrespect to Bill and PP..:bump:

PP is a 388; Albert's MTI is a 48; it's all relative.

First off I have nothing to prove to Albert he is a friend of mine not a customer. His boat is beautiful and ran great for him and he was happy. Do I nead to buzz every boat all day? 155 WAS MORE LIKE 151

I ran 120 all the way to Gilberts and had plenty of boats pass me. Most people that run alot of runs know that I typically have a boat full of people and just ride. I do typically let it rumble when I think it is safe and or when the opportunity arrises.

I have four hours of video from the run if I need to prove how my boat ran when called upon...hell Gino even pulled up along side and we just kept cruising on the way to Gilberts

As the video will show if need be posted PP could roll out from any speed and go. I'm not a salesman that has anything to prove by running with a customer wide open all day. I was also in the miiddle of the pack surrounded by MTI's when we left Gilbert's the rest is all HISTORY.

Yes, I did break a lifter on the way home but after 248 hrs with no issues ...I am quit happy..also the lifter issue was my fault.

And finally like I said before SKATER ONLY NEEDED TO SEND ONE:driving:

Ya, well, i was leading on the way back to Miami. Oh ya, thats just cause i left first, then all you bastards passed me :), then i caught up to you in the no wake in front of gilbert, then you were all gone again. ):. Great times guys i had a blast

Sounds like every time I go boating:rolleyes:

I got a buck that says it's not faster in 8's and 10's.

I'm waiting for someone to re-rig an unlimited hydro and start bringing it on some of these runs.

I got $1 million bucks that says you'll never find out with me in either boat—as "8s and 10s" would scare the hell out of me. That's what I call "Sunseeker 85 water."

Yeah, baby. Yeah.

Bill, Im not trying to discredit you or your boat.I know it is the fastest pleasure boat to date.It is probably the most beautiful skater ever built. I sell MTI's and am kind of partial to them.I get a little fired up when people that wasn'n there start talking smack. It's all in fun, You know i would give you the shirt(coat) off my back..LOL. Look foward to seeing you at the next run....It's always a pleasure, Carey:kiss:

How did DOI run?:driving:
Steve,

I headed down Saturday morning. I could not make it before due to family commitments.

I did not push it a whole lot I was by myself and am still ironing out items on the new mills. Seems the bugs are mostly out the only remenant of passed issues was a damaged flywheel which made it trickyer and trickyer to start. That is getting changed as we speak.

Ran most of the day around 100 in Biscayne Bay, the only time I pushed it was when I passed under the Rickenbacker Causeway and was getting back on plane. The usual sequence is I get the boat on plane standing on the seat once I see that all is clear ahead and can dip inside and close the cockpit I do so, then check again that the "road" is clear and proceed to tie up the six point belts. Once all this is done the boat is usually around 60-70 mph.

Well I get settled in and about 20 feet to my right running alongside me is an Outerlimits that must of come out of Grove Harbor to the West of the Causeway looked like a 42 Open Cockpit V with a great Red and Dark Blue paint job... Their is no doubt about his intentions so I'm all bolted in and nothing is ahead with hardly a wave in sight so it's on!!! We both floor our rigs and it starts... 80-90-100-110-120-125--- oupps he's starting to breath a little harder now... 130-135-140 and that was enough to see him in the mirrors turning tail and not having that MTI for lunch, my guess the guy ran in the mid 120's which is sweet for a V hull.

I went out in the ocean about 10 miles east of Islamorada and zipped straight to Hawks Kay about 25 miles. This was a blast ran about 110 all the way in 3's roughly and the boat sang! Got some descent air buzzed Albert's boat that was chilling with Woodsy on board and came into Hawks Cay from the outside in the shallows in the small channel I know from fishing there the five times a year we go there with the "Mut".

Essentially what is said here is what I heard. Bill's ride ran like a raped ape, some bruises and bumps mechanically from a certain percentage of the people but it is to expect pushing those rig like that I guess.

The most important is that it was a blast of an event, whoever pisses the furthest...

Enough said right there !!!:cheers2:

It's all about having a great time and Bill you certainly sound like you did.
It's not as much fun running so far ahead of the pack that you're out by yourself. You can do that on any given day.

Sharing the good times with others around you is what makes a Poker Run the good time that it is...

Hopefully it warms up down there for you soon... :cheers2:
