Copeland's Phenomenon

I think the speed records should be whatever the radar gun see's it the deal. no 3 start kilo BS. Reggie and Ben saw 183 on a pass that day

I agree............

Anything that Reggie and Ben "saw" should be declared a record without question, timing lights, or a sanctioning body.

Your insight is simply amazing.....second only to your blind hero worship.

T2x........Who once "saw" 475 on my GPS...........(might have been the price)

Easy fellas. Let's keep this on the high road. We appreciate both your opinions, and let's keep this on a path of continued good discussion.

:)

CIG, lets all meet and have a party at the run in SARASOTA in Jan. 2010 !!!!

SOS #2 ?!

I will help getting it done .

Scott

I talked to Al Jr. that night of the party and you can see how much this means to him a his family. Please respect what they are trying to do here. You can almost bet that it will run and if it does not I dont think much is going to stop them.

Thats too easy.. It needs to be an average of opposite directions.

Bar talk and Records are two different things.:USA:

I agree. You have to replicate the results for two reasons: (1)eliminate any nuances in the measuring equipment, and (2) to factor our any gains/losses from weather (wind/tide).

I kind of agree with Dolla on this one. Boat is running 170MPH for 2 miles, then gets a blip up to 172MPH; I think the record should be recorded as 172MPH.

Sanctioned, GPS, radar, etc all in place- just the absolute highest recorded as the record. The lowest of the devices used with a minimum of 2 or 3 with no more than a 1% or whatever is normal deviation.

I mean going under bridge and gaining 10MPH is one thing- saying within reason of what they are running. Like 2-3% max- like 170 could be 172 but not 179

Is it going to be an open record run? Can other boats run too?

Yes a Barstool record.. World Records demand a higher standard.:sifone:

If that's the case, my 1988 heavy-azz Cig is faster than the cat killer. Now, where are my gold chains from the 80's...:sifone::sifone::sifone:

I'm just kidding around boys, let's keep this thread on track. It could be boating history in the making!:)

...and this was not obtained behind the truck on the trailer. I can assure you guys of that!! They do the official record runs a certain way for a reason.;)

Then I have a 116 mph boat. Cool!
