Well I started off in the trucking business and then grew that to a small, 17 company conglomerate, that did everything from trucking to leasing equipment and labor to financing equipment to storage trailers to mobile maintenance (Like Gino). Customers were mainly Fortune 100, but also had some small fry like the US Government.
Oh yes, with help from a good friend, guy by the name of Aronow, started a high performance boat co (Banana Boat) to write off my racing as "research and development". But the company actually began sellng boats and took on a life of it's own.
Sold off the big business back in '95 and my oldest son has reopened the boat co and is selling boats again in Florida.
I tried retiring, but I am now the Chairman of the Board of a small (less than 1 billion) regional bank. Good news here, is that we are well capitalized and didn't need any governement money...thanks anyway....maybe we can sell them a boat.
Sorry, almost forgot about HORBA. Managing Director of HORBA, Historic Offshore Race Boat Association. Trying to save the old race boats before they are gone and trying to educate the public about the real history of the sport and the colorful characters that started it.
Been doing it a long time, but just love boats and racing..... and the work has just been to support this wonderful habit.
