What Do You Do Networking Thread

I'm an IT manager for a big financial firm. We were just bought by another company, so I'm hanging onto my boots........

Well I started off in the trucking business and then grew that to a small, 17 company conglomerate, that did everything from trucking to leasing equipment and labor to financing equipment to storage trailers to mobile maintenance (Like Gino). Customers were mainly Fortune 100, but also had some small fry like the US Government.

Oh yes, with help from a good friend, guy by the name of Aronow, started a high performance boat co (Banana Boat) to write off my racing as "research and development". But the company actually began sellng boats and took on a life of it's own.

Sold off the big business back in '95 and my oldest son has reopened the boat co and is selling boats again in Florida.

I tried retiring, but I am now the Chairman of the Board of a small (less than 1 billion) regional bank. Good news here, is that we are well capitalized and didn't need any governement money...thanks anyway....maybe we can sell them a boat.

Sorry, almost forgot about HORBA. Managing Director of HORBA, Historic Offshore Race Boat Association. Trying to save the old race boats before they are gone and trying to educate the public about the real history of the sport and the colorful characters that started it.

Been doing it a long time, but just love boats and racing..... and the work has just been to support this wonderful habit.

Very cool! We've done a lot of work with Capital One, Northfork Bank and Bank of NY over the years! Northfork obviously being the smallest and was recently acquired by Capital One.

Very nice , diverse business. Somebody knows something about business there. Great job!

Thank you, that is very sweet. And you weren't just kidding about diverse. Not only are we a custom upholstery shop and managing the Skater clothing line we are also a complete sign and awning company. Some days it is like a three ring circus. But we love it!
Just an FYI - we are clearing out alot of the existing SkaterWear clothing at sale prices to bring on new styles in '09! I will have the website updated very soon to reflect the sale!:26:

Marine surveyor in SE Florida. Can do anything without sails or a wood hull.

Special niche market in high performance surveys. Can perform compression and leak-down tests on high performance engines.

Hobby is restoring American muscle cars, so I have a great network of parts sources if anybody has the need.

I have been married enough times to be a pretty effective marriage counselor. "Do as I say...not as I did" !!

Where are you at? We strictly do business in Ohio due to all the little nuances and PITA things that the states come up with to make the agencies jump through hoops for their money.

I have said it before and I will say it again, marrriage for men is a commitment, marriage for women is an investment program. once properly vested divorce is inevitable.
