Our very own Tommy Gun is competing this year. He was headed out as I was leaving this morning. Stinson is driving a 40 Skater with twin 2200's and BPM's on 4-speed Weissman's. Their prop testing sounded downright scary.
If Pyburn's fun run performance yesterday is any indicator, he's planning on a big number today.
The course is a bit deceiving because the shut down bouys are the same colors as the trap bouys and if you are not perfectly lined up at the start you see 4 bouys. The course set up also features an emergency zone which provides a greater buffer between the course and the spectators leaving plenty of room to drift left. To the right where the traps are is a 75 foot high rock bluff. It requires hugging the wall like a NASCAR race.
Pure Platinum missed the bouys 1st run (looked like he was running really good) 2nd run he went out of turn...I don't know if they count that. Flight Club also missed the traps on their only run.
The speeds should get better tomorrow; there is no substitute for experience.
What a thrill running flat out with a mile long raft up of boats two rows deep lining the course.

It was too bad anyone missed. Plus there were two with no reading at all. One was Outlaw Cowgirl. I wanted to see if she would do better than last year.
