Pics From St. Pete 3/28

8 boats went to lunch stop and returned from there

Only 2 of us went to Tampa Bay Yacht Club and returned from there. Both center consoles.

BIG water and was just a recipe for breaking something.

BUT NONE THE LESS a GREAT TIME

It was fricken nasty! When we got outside the Bridge we hit a couple of waves that felt like the boat was going to break in half. We took a couple over the bow that absolutly drenched us. I can't wait to see the pics from the helicoptors, should be some killer shots.
Yesterday morning when we went to put the boat on the trailer the water in the bay was so flat it looked like a mirror. It could not be more flat. I have never seen such a drastic change in an 8 hour period. It's really too bad we couldn't have run Sunday instead.

Looking forward to those pics Gino. How far did you go?

Gino, I was saying the same thing...yesterday morning the wind was about 0kts, and the water was like glass; damn shame the bad weather couldn't have happened one day sooner. This is definitely one unique body of water. The opposite of what you described is also true. It can be glass when you leave in the morning, and in a couple hours there's some serious water to contend with.

There was some serious hardware there! Some that really stood out in my mind were:
Catastrophe's Killer Nor-Tech, it takes something unique to stand out in that crowd!;
Gino, your boat looked sick as always;
the new 50' Nor-Tech cat Gold Rush with quad 1000+'s!;
Albert's MTI had sick paint work;
the 43 Motion and the Z06 MTI were just badazz combos of new tech and old school classic looks.

The girls toughed it out... Quic Chic had her butt kicked but its sure was heck of a run.. Rougher than I wanted- but the thought to turn around didnt occur to me at all. We had to hang tough.. The only thing I broke was a finger nail.. lol.. Andy Davis my Crew chief and head mechanic kicked butt on making sure the boat was ready and set up just right for the run... Of all the races from the past with the 42 fountain- this poker run was the roughest and the boat ran the best.. Looks like I should have hired him many events ago!! But this quic chic was excited to make it to the lunch stop and the 2nd boat to get there.. Yeah Yahh it was a blast and was just nice to be back on the water...and boy did we get wet. but fun as heck. ...The MTI Corvette was the first to get to lunch with the Quic Chics beside him... V Bottom Hull just ran great with those MTI..s Angela sure did a great job with me!! Until next time c ya in the water..Lisa

Agreed. Gold Rush was just mind-blowing ; and the paint on the MTI was simply wicked.
:cool:

Gino, thats exactly how it was on testing here in Biloxi..there was so much sand blowing they had to use bucket trucks to get the sand off the roads..Sunday was perfect, relatively flat 1-2's and 69 degree's....Had a great time..wish they were on different weekends.

Hey Catastrophe ..... can you post some pics of your boat ? Is it a Nortech ?

Lunch Stop

So, who were the other 4, besides:

MTI Corvette

Lisa's 42 Fountain Race Boat

NorTech Quad CC

New Statement V

and . . .?

It was big cat water. There were 4 boats actually made it to lunch AND back to the Vinoy. Two were 43 Nor-tech cats from Canada (Rob Weber in Cat'astrophe and Luciani/Lang's Lawrason's). The other cat was Jim Lee in the 46 Skater Freedom US-1. Bill Taylor in his very wet 47 Fountain fulfilled his duties as pace boat and made the entire circuit as well. There were 4 other boats that managed to make it to lunch but decided not to drive back to St. Petes. Rough, rough water that day.

Lunch Stop

So, is this the list of those who made it?

MTI Corvette

42 Fountain (former) Race Boat

NorTech Quad V

Statement V

2- NorTech 43 Cats

46 Skater

47 Fountain V

Half cats.

Half V's.

All 40 feet or longer.

3 NorTechs.

2 Fountains.

1 Skater.

1 MTI.

1 Statement.

And the last 4 made the return trip?

Right? Wrong? Who cares?
