Atlantic City Grand Prix to bring offshore powerboat racing back to city in June

The exciting sport of offshore powerboat racing is slated to return to Atlantic City on June 22.

The Atlantic City Grand Prix will bring world-class powerboat racing in the ocean in view of those on the Boardwalk and beaches, officials announced this week. The Offshore Powerboat Association has partnered with Visit Atlantic City and the resort’s casinos to bring the event to the city.

The regatta will be the first event of the OPA National Championship Series on the northern East Coast of the United States.

Some of the fastest and most renowned racing teams from around the world will compete. Fans will get to see long, high-powered boats slicing through the water at amazing speed.

“We are thrilled to bring our world-class boat racing back to the shores of Atlantic City,” said Nick Smith, vice president of the Offshore Powerboat Association said in an OPA news release. “This promises to be a monumental event, showcasing the premier racers and race boats, speed, and the sheer excitement of powerboat racing. We are grateful for the collaboration with the Mayor, Visit Atlantic City, the Atlantic City Sports Commission, CRDA, and the casinos and other hotels and businesses. We look forward to delivering a spectacular show for both residents and visitors.”
