I had it years ago when i worked at a dealership, but never renewed it. I thought it was pretty easy to get.

    I did it last year.
Sea School was the best for passing the test.
But then there's a bunch of other BS to do.
Fingerprints, Drug Test, First aid and CPR cert.... Paperwork.
Then this year they required you to get a TWIC card.
    More Govt red tape.

I had a 100 ton license i accidently let expire. Its a lot of redtape and kinda costly to maintain these days if you are not using it to make money.

Yep the TWIC card is a real pain and costly also. You can thank the terrorist for that expense.

Well there goes my interest LOL. Actually I had it one time. I took the course when I was 13 then took it again at 18 when I could get the license

I just finished the Mariners School online 6 Pak course, and am almost through the masters too. Everything is spoonfed to you, in my opinion the way to go. Not hard, just some time.

The problem is everything else they want. TWIC is about $140 if I remember? and I had to drive two hours from Atlanta to Chattanooga to get to an approved "facility"

I just filled out the paperwork and went to the Coast Guard Office took the tests and got a 100T Masters License. I rated Mate unlimited but will never use it.

Correct me if I am wrong on this scenario. If you are licensed and on a boat with an unlicensed operator and their is an accident or whatever, are you at any risk being the licensed person on board?
