    12,500 Dow= 12,500

12,500 Dow with an added 8.8% capital gains tax on Jan 1= 11,400 "felt" Dow as compared to Dec 31.
That 1,100 point differential went to the US treasury.

Hence my notion to take capital gains within the next 6 weeks.

Too bad the IRA charitable rollover is gone. It would have been a perfect storm for charities this giving season, and a lot of good would have been done. Rather than paying interest on Chinese loans to pay for handouts that are just a memory now.

Oh... yeah... oil is going up rather than down with the market because of a likely middle east war.
Sweet. Maybe we can tax, divide and apologize our way out of this.

But the economy and international affairs are so much better than four years ago.

I was arguing in the comments section of a Yahoo article, a guy posted "Obama's in charge, deal with it hillbillies"....and I threw out this..got a lot of thumbs up....should be some vitriol on there this morning.

""As a hillbilly myself....I did deal with it...I quit going to work...traded for a foreign car and applied for food stamps.....now I am awaiting owebama care to give me some meds to overcome my guilt for becoming a sh*tbag"..

Well, the market finally stopped the slide, (hopefully for more than a day and to wait for the outcome of meetings about the "financial cliff"). Then we'll see what happens.

Who else thinks they'll kick the bucket down the road?????

They kicked it to the edge of the cliff last time. Let me tell you what you've won:

Reverting to 2001 tax rates, increasing the capital gains tax to 8.8%, hiking the estate tax on estates over $1,000,000 and Owebama Care will move a lot of money from the free side of the economy to the federal side. It will have a chilling effect on the economy, but that's ok. They knew the last finger couldn't hold the dam. And He's been re-elected. Strap yourself in for four years of paying for the last four years.

I want to say that we should vote for a flat tax and eliminate the IRS.
I want to say that we should vote in ways that support the 2nd amendment.
I want to say that I am tired of government manipulation of the free market due to incompetence and irresponsibility (fannie mae) and intrusion (GM/Delphi/UAW). We should vote in ways that limit the size and scope of government.
I want to say that they should bring back the charitable IRA rollover, and oh and stop the planned 2013 theft of inheritances.

That's what I want to say. I do not want to say anything seditious.

I predict Libertarianism as a viable third party next time. It's a place that fiscal conservatives can go where the religious right won't follow them.
