Dan,
Great looking truck for sure. If the truck doesn't have it already you might want to look into some air hags for towing that heavy BAJA, you are thinking about buying. EX are sprung softer than Super Duty pickups.
Can me if I can help you out in any way!

Towing Capacity
The Excursion was designed to work, and its capabilities were among the highest in the SUV class at the time. The 2004 models are typical; for this year the 5.4-liter, two-wheel drive models are rated to tow up to 7,600 lbs. while the four-wheel drives can tow up to 7,200. All versions of the 6.8 V10 and 6.0 Power Stroke diesel are rated to tow up to 11,000 lbs.Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!

Wonder if you can set the rear up like a F250? Add 2" blocks under the rear leafs and slap in a set of factory replacement springs for the F250/F350 of that vintage? I think the excursions did not have any blocks under the leafs, where as the F250 had 2" blocks, and F350 had 4" blocks, in that vintage. Spring codes were basically the same on the F250's and 350's, depending on whether or not you ordered the camper package or hd suspension package.
I had 2 2004 F250's. One had the snowplow prep package, and camper package. The other had standard suspension. The one with the plow and camper package sat about an inch higher all the way around, and was a STIFF ride.

Im going to try pulling my helper springs out of the dually this year.
The boat loads it down to where they just touch the overload springs and on the right road it loads and unloads the overload springs,,,,,gets quite annoyong how it bounces !!!!

Once again joe right on the money, I`ve been doing some reading and seems going to the F250 suspension is the way to go
Obnoxus I think you`re right the bags made my F150 ride harder too..
Wonder who has a hook up on these parts..
Rear B code springs: Part #3C3Z-5560-CB
Left side 3.5" tapered block: Part #F81Z-5598-FA
Right side 3.5" tapered block Part #F81Z-5598-GA

I think a pair of rear springs should run about 300-350 bucks from Ford for the parts. Blocks shouldnt be much. Go with some bilstein shocks to compliment it. The bilsteins rock on superdutys...I don't believe the stock shocks will work if you go this route.
pick up the Baja yet?

03-12-2011 11:05 AMNice looking truck!!
Sounds like we'll be seeing you on the "ditch this summer. I've got a spot reserved at Doyne's in building 7, but I am still waiting to hear from Marina Shores about what kind of lift the will allow. I may be moving there.
