Ok, question: Getting really close to paint.
My piant scheme is medium blue metallic for all the painted parts and the rest is stainless, aluminum, or otherwise polished. (valve covers, exhaust tips, flame arrestors, crossovers) The heads are aluminum and look really good (now). Should I wait and paint them in a new years when they don't look so good, or should I paint them now?

Paint em now. Gonna be a lt harder to do in the boat.

Paint them now. Tape off all the critical areas of the motor and scuff any overly smooth areas that will be getting painted. Fog the whole engine with laquer a few times to get all the oils and solvets out out before priming.

Yeah, I guess that you can't see that much of them anyway.

03-25-2010 10:10 AMIn fresh water, all that will happen is they'll lose some shine. They're not going to get all white and powdery. If they do, you've got much bigger problems.

I'd paint it now and be done with it. No sense in slackin' at this point.

That's cool Rob. Hopefully by May it's getting down to the nitty-gritty.

John, time to put some pressure on your engine builder. It only takes a couple of weeks to put an engine together but the little things like pushrod lengths etc. can cause delays that will eat into your summer. I can't wait to see your boat in the water. It's going to be a beast.
Big boats rule!
