I'm sure Crane did their homework to recommend a certain size and type of pushrod for a given combo, but is that optimum?
Hey, I'm a cheapskate and started w 2 early 90's GenV's I found in Kansas for $2500, but $16K later and I'm looking for good quality performance outta this roller cam and valvetrain...

08-06-2009 01:54 PMWell they came in today and they are sweet .
Beautifully machined, laser etched with length and wall thickness.
I said solid in post # 21, I meant one piece. .165" wall thickness. They aren't light but I am told that isn't as important as resistance to flexing.

09-03-2009 05:30 PMJust a heads up;
If you elect to clean the inside of the pushrods yourself, buy 2 brushes for each engine and plan to spend about an hour per 16 pushrods. Each one requires about 6-8 passes with the brush.
Soaking them overnight in solvent helps too.

09-04-2009 11:44 AMI use Smith Brothers. Since Dennis bought the company several years ago they are top notch. 3/8's is available in .083/.120/.145. 7/16" is available up to .188" wall.

09-05-2009 05:07 AMI have used them all but last time Manton was able to custom build them faster then anyone else,trend was weeks behind for some reason. Pushrods should be as beefy as possible when running any kind of aggressive roller cam,solid or hydraulic,Smitty

09-06-2009 07:30 PMThats right! Terry Manton, knows the pushrods are the last issue of the engine build. I have called him @ 12:00 E.S.T. and had the pushrods the next day. Two days if they had to go to heat-treatment.

09-06-2009 11:08 PMTrend was pretty fast too, Custom sizing on everything (Fords you know) and I had them in 3 days. I am sure there are several good manufacturers out there, IMHO you can add Trend to that list. These are most definitely the most beautifully machined pieces I have owned. 7/16ths O.D. and .185" wall, I am betting no flexing either.
